Finally…Family Time 😍
Just like everyone else, when the pandemic hit it meant that time spent with people was cut out of your life…it sucked! But what sucked the most was knowing you couldn’t see family when you wanted. Just as things started to get better for that brief spell in the UK back in the summer of 2020 we had to pack up and move to Austria for me to play with the Graz 99ers. One of the big things me and Jade were looking forward to the most was sharing our experience with our family when they came to visit. However, covid had other ideas and just after I was struck with my MCL & ACL injury the world started to shut down again meaning that no one could come visit and we couldn’t share our experience in Austria with our family and friends like we had looked forward to so much.
This past summer we packed up again and left Barrybados for Trencin, Slovakia with the hope that Covid wouldn’t do the same to us again this year. Luckily we have only had one lockdown while here (and even then you couldn’t really call it a lockdown), travel remained open and it allowed family to visit us multiple times. We managed to have Jade’s mum and step-dad (Linda & Tony) visit twice already and then my mum (Jayne) visit us twice too! However, last week we managed to have my dad (Dave) fly over with my mum and finally got to share the experience of our Euro lifestyle with him! That’s why I thought it was a good time to write this blog!
Over those trips we’ve created so many memories, had so many great days and captured so many special moments! We visited Bratislava zoo, climbed up Trencin Castle, drank mulled wine under the Christmas lights, we visited Bojnice Castle (which by the way is the most epic castle I’ve ever seen) and spent days walking around Bratislava before spending the nights in Boat Hotels and more than anything we’ve sipped about 100 gallons of coffee and eaten our weight in food 😂
No matter what happens this year, where we spend next year, we will always be able to look back on the memories we made here with joy!
