Tirion & Kris - Their Big Fat Greek Wedding

Now this one was a special one for one for me! Not only was it my first full wedding as the lead photographer but it was also the wedding of 2 of our closest friends…no pressure Ben!
What better way to really kickstart this venture than with a wedding in Greece! This was a steep learning curve but a super fun one at that. weddings around South Wales and the UK in general tend to be more of an all day affair with bridal prep starting nice and early with plenty of time for pictures before the main event. However, in Greece it was, let’s say, a little more laid back and super condensed.
The ceremony was scheduled to start at 5:30pm in order for the guests and more importantly the couple to feel comfortable in the heat, although saying that, it was still high 20’s at that point. The one positive was that it was a stunning beach ceremony with plenty of wind to cool people down!
Groom prep was super laid back and a tonne of fun to shoot so we managed to get a few really cool shots. Bridal prep ran a bit longer than anticipated but we still managed to get some amazing photos in to capture those special moments. One thing I did learn the hard way after the ceremony was that the greek version of confetti which was dried rice and petals, really hurts when it hits you, but make for some stunning shots!
After the ceremony we got the group & family photos done in front of a stunning sea backdrop before letting the guests head off to the restaurant for drinks while myself, Tirion & Kris wondered along the side of the cliffs for their private shots. One thing that I loved is that Tirion had asked for slightly different photos that were a bit more out there and fun. Obviously being friends made it easier to gauge what those guys would be happy/comfortable with but at the same time, that friendship added more pressure to make sure we nailed everything!
Everything on the day was really condensed so it was a non-stop first wedding but I wouldn’t change it for anything…I got to see my close friends tie the knot in a stunning place and we got some amazing photos that Tirion & Kris love!!
