Groom Prep at New House Country Hotel
At the start of June I got the chance to work as a second shooter for a great photographer called Lewis Fackrell. The job description was straight forward…get some great shots of the groom getting ready, shots of the groomsmen all together along with a few detail shots mixed in.
A lot of grooms say they don’t want photos during groom prep because they don’t like the idea of being photographed. But actually I’d say that groom prep can be one of the most fun parts of the day. It helps ease the groom and groomsmen in to having their photos taken, it helps them relax and feel at ease, it gives them a chance to give each other some stick/take the micky out of each other and most of all (providing the photographer does it right) it allows them to just have fun! That is exactly what we did with Matt and his groomsmen. Just like all of my photoshoots, I like to make them to be easy, laid back and fun because that’s how you get those money shots and capture those special moments and emotions.
Now the lighting on this particular morning was pretty tricky as every few minutes it would go from grey, overcast skies to full on sun and blue skies that gave off super harsh lighting conditions. Literally at times I would have to quickly change settings in between shots and adapt on the fly to the drastic changes in lighting conditions. I suppose though that, that just made the whole thing more fun!
New House Country Hotel was a great setting for the guys to start their day and a real nice place for me to start out on my wedding photography venture.
Oh…and I was pretty happy with how these pictures turned out!
